Five People Injured When Changing Tire by Suspected DUI Driver
December 15, 2011 – Sounds like another crazy votto. According to reports five people were injured while changing a tire by a suspected drunk driver. According to the California Highway Patrol the accident injuring five people occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway, at the transition road to the westbound 105 Freeway in West Athens.
CHP officials stated that college students were changing a tire and a Good Samaritan stopped to assist, when the two cars were struck by a driver that is suspected to be under the influence. According to the California Highway Patrol when paramedics arrived on the scene of the crash one man was pinned underneath of the vehicle. Once the victim was freed he was transported to Harbor General Hospital. Paramedics found other victims lying on the ground at the scene of the accident, with two being in critical condition and three other people that suffered minor injuries. According to the California Highway Patrol the driver that struck the vehicles was administered a field sobriety test.
